Thoughts and dreams

Growing up as a little girl I think it's in us all to dream about growing up and having our own family an what it will be like and the things we will do, I know I did any how! As a little girl I can remember thinking to the future and imagining what my 'prince charming' would be like and then some day we would have children and of course I imagined having a little girl of my own, again what girl doesn't? Thinking of all the things you can teacher her, doing her hair, painting her nails, playing tea party and with baby dolls. All the things I did as a girl I would get to do again with my own little girl, how cool!

Now here I am all grown up, with my 'prince charming' kind of ( love you hunny!) and my own child... A little boy! Wait a second this was not a part of the plan, this was not in my dreams! (Now before you get your panties in a bunch let me just say I LOVE my little man more than life itself! I would not trade him for anything! )

So now what? I'm a girl, a women I mean what can I teach a little boy? I don't know anything about boys well nothing I can teach him anyways. I like the color pink, and doing my hair, and wearing heels and playing with dolls. I am not a big fan if getting dirty, lord knows I really dislike creepy crawly things (praying Corbin NEVER brings a snake home), and I pee sitting down! I have nothing to offer this child, my little man, I have to hand him over to his father, he knows best, ugh, in this instance any ways.

Well I am here to tell you I think I may have had it all wrong! Maybe everyone has it all wrong. Since having my little man I have had the opportunity to teach him so many things, for starters he knows how to give the best snuggles cause of me (smiles), as he is growing and learning we now work on his vocabulary and how to do new and exciting things everyday! Today though, today really made me change my mind about it all. For me when I think of a father son relationship the first picture that pops into my head is of a little boy standing next to his dad in the bathroom mocking him while he shaves, now tonight I had my own 'shaving' moment!

Getting ready for bed as usual I go into the bathroom to brush my teeth, now this is something we have recently started doing with Corbin too so he had already brushed his 'tees' for the night. Well that didn't stop him, he hear me turn on the sink and he bolted in, hurried his little leg up onto the toilet and pulled himself up to stand on it, next to me, to watch as I brushed me 'tees'! Made me giggle as I watched him watch me he was just so fascinated by the whole act. He then looked around and saw it, the extra tooth brush in the cup we put the for him. His eyes lit up as he grabbed it and looked at me and said 'tees' and then held out the brush. Who could resist that, not me that's for sure! So I turned on the water and he stretched his arm out to wet the brush and began to brush aka suck the water out of the brush. As I rinsed and spit so did he, watching my moves to make sure he didn't miss a beat. Once we were all done he put his brush back just like I did and then smiled at me with a look of accomplishment. I was so happy and proud and full of joy, I had taught him that!

The moral of this story, he may not play with dolls or pee sitting down but I sure am teaching him a lot! Man do I love that little boy!

Adventures in Chuck town!

Hello all! Been a little busy lately but thought I would fill you in on our recent adventure! A friend of mine here in NC and her daughter (Corbin's GF) took a trip to Charleston, SC. This is my friends hometown so she acted as our tour guide. It gave us a chance to have some time away from home, with our babies, and to enjoy ourselves. Now before we left we were well aware of what we may be getting into... Let me explain.... We have been hanging out since our little ones were about four months old and it has been such a joy to watch our little nuggets grow up together, see they are only about 2 weeks apart, Corbin being older than TL. Well my little monster has always been the bully in the friendship and poor TL has taken a beating, well since she has gotten older she has gotten better at dishing out the beatings as well so anytime these two get together its always an adventure, and since they are both very mobile we never can tell what we will get into.

Well we started our road trip very early in the morning and kept our fingers crossed that we didn't have any melt downs and thankfully we didn't. Both kids did great in the car! The first night we enjoyed spending time with my friends mama and having a cook out and both kids enjoyed getting lovins from 'Grand-mommy' and playing. That night in the hotel, oh what a trip. My monster was the first to climb up on the AC unit and bang on the window and monkey see monkey do so TL joined him. The next day we spend time exploring downtown Charleston and seeing the sights. I was really showing my tourist side, I saw a cruise ship and got so excited lol I guess I need to get out more. We enjoyed checking out Waterfront park and letting the kids play in the fountains and chasing squirrel, and the historic downtown market. That night we headed back to the hotel early because we were all beat. We enjoyed some delicious pizza and french fries and played with the kids in the pool. We made our way back to NC the next day and again we made it back with out any serious issues. All in all the trip was a great success, the kids had fun, the adults had fun, and we are still friends (ha ha). I can see us taking a trip somewhere else again someday. Here are a few shots from the trip, enjoy!
